Just got mine in and wow. Build quality is top notch, finish on everything is excellent. The neck strap holder balances perfectly without the need for an extension, the gimbals are hands down the best I've ever felt, the switches all click nicely and both pots and sliders have detents that aren't too aggressive or too soft for my liking. The screen is super easy to read and getting it set up the first time was a breeze now that openTX companion is compatible.
I wish it had a case with it, but I'm sure I can find one that will fit. Other than that, and that's a total nit-pick, there's nothing I can find to not like so far. Got it bound to 3 quads no problem and did some flying around my office at lunch. Everything felt great.
I came from a FrSky Taranis QX7S so I was used to the firmware already, but it might be a learning curve for someone not used to it. The screen is also way bigger so it feels kinda empty with all the void space around things. Sure I'll figure that out too though in the next couple days. Gotta start messing with the widgets page. Thanks heli-nation, best service in the industry!
Picked this radio up a month or so ago. Coming from a strictly "Spektrum" background, there was a learning curve here, but man was it worth it! I have enjoyed every second with my new daily driver. I am flying everything from an original tiny Proto-X, to an 80" wing and everything in between. 0 issues with the radio. Kudos to Heli-Nation for stocking this and the accessories!
I purchased this radio due to the internal multi protocol. One radio for all my crafts! It’s well made and fits my hands very well. You just can’t go wrong with heli nation and this radio!
In the short time I have had this radio I will say that overall the radio has a nice fit and finish to it. After setting up a few models I began testing it via my Crossfire and found it to be almost seamless. Being used to the Taranis X9D OpenTX software this is my 1st interaction with the GUI based software found on other radios like the Horus. After about 30 minutes of bouncing in and out of menus I started to get the feel for it.
I think that Jumper has placed a worthy competitor out there, with not only the functionality but pricing as well...show me another Multi Protocol TX that has the T16's functionality for under 160 bucks. This thing is loaded with some many protocols its almost crazy and over half of them I've never heard of :)
One thing to the negative, Jumper needs to install stronger stick tension springs. Other than that after removing the back cover I found it was far less of a wiring mess than the X9D. The back simply comes off and everything is attached to the front of the radio...nice move there.
The only other negative thing is the speaker hiss....I have read many many posts about this problem and hopefully in the near future Jumper comes up with a fix. Its not loud but in a quite environment you can hear it.
I would have given the radio 100% otherwise.
This radio is actually quite amazing for its price. It feels like a much more expensive radio in terms of build quality, fit, and finish. The switches are very firm and positive. The color screen is very clear with no distortion and is easy to see in the sun. The learning curve for this version of OpenTX is a little steep but there is tonnes of info online and on youtube. The only complaint I have is that I can not set the gimbal springs as soft as I prefer. The adjustment screws will hit the inside of the case and not allow full travel in one direction if backed out too far. This is strictly a personal preference and not a dig on the radio its self. Awesome product.
